43rd times is the charm - but rather a disappointing one
Good: Stayed in National Hotels chain hotels since March 2017, 3rd stay at 99 Bonham. Loved the concept from the start - local chain, modern building with only 2 rooms on the floor and floor-to-ceiling windows, provided a unique home-like feeling of privacy in a quiet corner of a bustling city. Needless to say, it was a good value for money for a properly equipped room, fantastic location and proximity to all the key hotspots. Unfortunately, my recent stay was rather disappointing.
Bad: Reminiscing the fantastic stays in the past years, this time we ventured to stay for a week and there were quite several shortcomings on the room side (noise from the ventilation system, rubbish left in the room after cleaning, reported issues with shower, etc.). Although the most distressing aspect was a fact that during last 2 nights I observed a rash on my feet, that upon arrival to Germany was examined by GP and described as bed bugs bites. It is worth noting that on 16.04.24 there was a pest control inspection in our room, requiring us to pack up all our belongings. I have contacted hotel management on this matter, which as expected, resulted in reply that "no bed bugs were found in the room" and it is hard to confirm my claim as "I have been to a lot of places before I checked out and reported 3 days after my check out", which I personally see as completely in line with flight back from Asia to Europe and subsequent doctor visit and I have encountered such rashes for the very first time in my life and first have judged them for mosquito bites. I fully understand the hotels position and am relieved to find out there were no bugs found in the rooms, and cannot claim otherwise, although amount of 21978 HKD paid for the stay falls short of meeting the anticipated standards even putting that case aside. Sad, but will prioritise other chains from now on.
